Google Fiber is doing exactly what Google wanted, stirring the ISP pot to bring fiber to the home. Now a company called OneGigabit in Vancouver, BC, Canada is doing just that with the new service to compete with Google Fiber.
Although there are no apparent plans for Google to release fiber internet in Vancouver, if anyone is going to beat Google to it, it will be OneGigabit. Currently Google Fiber is priced at $70 for just internet or $120 for TV + Internet. But this new Canadian company expects to be able to serve the same for less, ranging from $40 to $60 per month.
If OneGigabit can do what they claim, then “more
power data to them”. Capturing this market is currently anyone’s game.
